Thanks to Tameside Radio 103.6 FM and Tameside Local Studies and Archives Tuesday 01 July 2008 by Brian Smart - Webmaster I owe a great deal of thanks to both Tameside Radio and Tameside Local Studies and Archives for their help in supporting my drive to encourage bowling in Tameside.
Tameside Radio 103.6 FM have provided us with what can best be described as an advertisement for this website and crown green bowling in general. Every hour, at 10 minutes to the hour, Tameside Radio 103.6 FM have a 'What's On' spot where there is an anouncement of all the local events that are taking place. Because there are so many different events and community related articles, they are rotated throughout the day and this means that on a regular basis, at different times of the day, the whole of Tameside Radio listeners get to hear about this website, the James North Memorial Bowling Club itself and bowling in the area. Tameside Radio supports community activity and as such does not charge anything for this airtime.
Tameside Local Studies and Archives have generously permitted the use of some archive photographs for use in the gallery of this website and for which I am truly grateful. Some of the images shown date back as far as the turn of the last century and are a very interesting addition to the gallery. Images of this nature can be found in the Nostalgia category. CONGRATULATIONS DAD!!! Thursday 19 June 2008 by Brian Smart - Webmaster Norths own Vets Handicap was held today. The finalists were Bill Fawley and Ken Smart who was the eventual winner. (Well done to for listening to all that I taught you). Full story to follow.

CONGRATULATIONS!! Keith and James Monday 16 June 2008 by Brian Smart - Webmaster To two of our members who won the P & E Pairs yesterday at The Riverside Bowling Club.
Keith Robins and James Jones bowl for the Bush and Lowes Arms respectively in the Tameside league and fought hard to earn their place in the final.
Both Keith and James grace us with their presence in the Stockport and Longendale leagues and are valuable assets to the club

CONGRATULATIONS!! Jack, Jason and Leyton Monday 16 June 2008 by Brian Smart - Webmaster Our junior members who have recently earned their places in team selection.
Leyton Devlin, Jack Holland and Jason Owen have shown remarkable enthusiam for the game and are beginning to show great potential.
In our Tameside game at home last week to Oldham Rugby, Leyton won to 16, Jack almost made it but lost to 20 and Jason was very close but losing to 16.
A great effort by all of them considering they have only started bowling this year and have had very little, if any match experience. |

Welcome Aboard Keith Wednesday 30 April 2008 by Brian Smart - Webmaster We are very happy to welcome our newest member Keith Robins to our squad in the S & D league.
Keith is the Tamside Mens Bowling League Secretary and is a valuable asset both on and off the green.
He sealed his membership with a 21-14 win last night when he played our green for the first time |
Tameside Miniweb now fully operational Wednesday 09 April 2008 by Brian Smart - Webmaster Just in time too!
With the first match of the season just about to kick off, the area of the James North website affectionately known as the Tameside Miniweb and dedicated to the Tameside bowling league is now fully functional and awaiting the appearance of results from tonights game.
Once those results have been entered, the first set of stats will be immediatley available and will then continue to swap and change as the season progresses.

Tameside League Tables and Player Stats Now Available (Samples) Thursday 27 March 2008 by Brian Smart - Webmaster There is now some sample data entered into the database for the Tameside Miniweb so that you can get a sneak preview of the format for league tables and player stats in the Tameside leagues.
During this testing process, only the Midweek Premier Division contains any data but please have a look and let me know if you see any problems.

FIRST INVITATION SHIELD A GREAT SUCESS Monday 24 March 2008 by Brian Smart - Webmaster Saturday 22nd March we opened our green for the new season with an invitation pairs competition.
Although 18 pairs registered to play, unfortionatly only 16 pairs attended.
After a long and enjoyable day with weather ranging from heavy snow, hailstone to bright sunshine the eventual winners were brand new member Chrinetine Gee and her husband Mike who beat Ken Smart and his partner Roy Sinnet.
The event raised over £100 for the newly established building fund. |
