Welcome Aboard Keith Wednesday 30 April 2008 by Brian Smart - Webmaster We are very happy to welcome our newest member Keith Robins to our squad in the S & D league.
Keith is the Tamside Mens Bowling League Secretary and is a valuable asset both on and off the green.
He sealed his membership with a 21-14 win last night when he played our green for the first time |
Tameside Miniweb now fully operational Wednesday 09 April 2008 by Brian Smart - Webmaster Just in time too!
With the first match of the season just about to kick off, the area of the James North website affectionately known as the Tameside Miniweb and dedicated to the Tameside bowling league is now fully functional and awaiting the appearance of results from tonights game.
Once those results have been entered, the first set of stats will be immediatley available and will then continue to swap and change as the season progresses.

Tameside League Tables and Player Stats Now Available (Samples) Thursday 27 March 2008 by Brian Smart - Webmaster There is now some sample data entered into the database for the Tameside Miniweb so that you can get a sneak preview of the format for league tables and player stats in the Tameside leagues.
During this testing process, only the Midweek Premier Division contains any data but please have a look and let me know if you see any problems.

FIRST INVITATION SHIELD A GREAT SUCESS Monday 24 March 2008 by Brian Smart - Webmaster Saturday 22nd March we opened our green for the new season with an invitation pairs competition.
Although 18 pairs registered to play, unfortionatly only 16 pairs attended.
After a long and enjoyable day with weather ranging from heavy snow, hailstone to bright sunshine the eventual winners were brand new member Chrinetine Gee and her husband Mike who beat Ken Smart and his partner Roy Sinnet.
The event raised over £100 for the newly established building fund. |
Tameside Mens League Fixtures Now Available Here Wednesday 12 March 2008 by Brian Smart - Webmaster This website is now host to Tameside Mens League fixtures, tables, averages, competition info and other news.
Due to the work involved, it will be phased in over time. The first element (Now available) is the fixtures list for Midweek, Saturday and Vets leagues for the coming season.
Plans are underway to provide the league/fixture secretary with the ability to record match results and thus provide us with tables, player stats etc but the development time needed means that we wont see these features just yet.
News and other info will also be available for maintaining by Tameside officials should they wish to take the opportunity

Norths go live on air Friday 29 February 2008 by Brian Smart - Webmaster In a ground breaking move to promote the club and bowling in Tameside and surrounding areas, 3 delegates from Norths are to go live on air on Tameside Radio 103.6 FM
Between the hours of 3 and 5 on Saturday Afternoons, Tameside Radio broadcasts a sports show hosted by Gary Osborne.
On Saturday 15th March, Gary will be having an informal chat with the guests from Norths and hopefully people will text/phone/email in with their own comments.
The move has been inspired by the club's desire to reach out to the community to try and promote the game and encourage membership.
The delegates attending the radio chat are yet to be confirmed but it is hoped that it will consist of a historian, a lady member and myself.

New Open Day Competition Friday 15 February 2008 by Brian Smart - Webmaster Last night's committee meeting was a particularly lengthy one mainly due to the fact that the new chairman Brian Smart had a lot to say about the club needing to take some decisive action on fund-raising and atracting new members.
The meeting developed in to somewhat of a brain-storming session with everyone eager to come up with ideas. After various ideas were kicked around we were able to settle on at least one to start the new season off.
The green will open this year with a new competition. The JNMBC Invitation Shield. This is going to be a pairs competition where JNMBC members invite a bowler from any other club to be their partner for the day. The competition will be in the format of Round-Robin and each game will consist of a set number of ends (to be decided on the day) so that we can control the length of the day based on the entry.
It was stressed that this be a FUN day and a chance to have a rare, LARGE social event at the club.
The competion start time is Saturday 22 March 2008 at 11am. Entry and Refreshments are free of charge to the visiting partners
JNMBC Members: Please support this idea by submitting your name and partners name to me before 20 March 2008. Each JNMBC member will pay £5 which includes entry fee and refreshments for you and your partner.
