Tameside Saturday Cup - Final

Sunday 20 September 2009 by Keith Robins - Tameside League Secretary

Mossley Pk (+42) 205 Denton Pk (Scr) 185

Newly promoted Mossley win their first ever trophy with a comfortable

win over Denton at Hyde Gents Club.

Lewis and Jones gave the Mossley side a fine start, adding 15 chalks to

the handicap with wins over Hunt and Keelan. Greatwich and George

squared the winners on the day, but with the handicap intact with 4

blocks off, the Denton lads faced an uphill struggle.

With Denton Needing at least one big winner in the middle order,

Mossley placed at least one hand on the trophy, with wins for Mills

and Thornley.

All last four blocks went Denton's way, but McCann and Skipper Hulme

got the chalks required to leave Denton needing snookers. With the last

two blocks on the green, Mossley's celebrations had already started,

and were well worth their victory.
